Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are infections that can be transmitted through sexual activity, especially sexual intercourse. STIs can occur among all people and cause different symptoms. Some STIs do not express symptoms and therefore often go undiagnosed. Unrecognized and untreated STIs can cause serious long-term health problems, such as infertility. Therefore, it is key to prevent STIs by using condoms, femidoms, and wipes, and to get tested regularly.
